COVID-19 Corn-Teen 01

A man once said, “show me your faith without works and I’ll show you my faith by my works” or something like that. I believe James the half brother of God mentions that somewhere. Pretty important I am sure. But enough about that, let’s just discuss the more pressing issues of the day like you being held up in your home with nothing to do. Absolutely bored to death with a Trump check headed your way. I mean, what are we supposed to do with this cash? Be responsible and buy toilet paper?

It is interesting how much less we are able to function with compared to how much we are used to. Home all day. Seeing your spouse. Seeing your kids. Seems like an opportunity to do things with them you always promised, but… You can’t go anywhere. You have to literally sit at home and spend actual time with these people. Time you promised to spend. Curious isn’t it?

This is a time many are turning to the book in the back of their Bibles fumbling for proof texts for certain things to prove certain stances. Posts, memes, pictures all pointing to the end of time and how everybody better get their affairs in order. Repent or be damned. That last bit is true no doubt. However, judgement starts at the house of the Lord. That means it begins with His people.

Back to the first part of this blog. We are to show our faith by our works. Our lives will reflect what we believe. We just celebrated the resurrection of our Lord Jesus, but many of us don’t live a resurrected life. We say we do, but practically the salt has lost some flavor. As men, we are commanded to love our wives. Here we are. Do you love her man!? Wives, you are called to respect your husbands. Well, do ya, huh? Children, obey your parents as unto the Lord! How’s that bed room looking?

This unique opportunity has helped many see with those eyes of faith just where the holes in our lives are. Beginning mostly at home, notwithstanding some other particular faults. It is easy to brush this away and long for the regular to be back. Whatever regular means. But please dear reader, show your faith by loving your family. Maybe this is for me, but a call to a new regular has risen. Regular time with our husband/wife. Regular time with our kids. Regular time foremost with our Lord. Thank the Lord for this CORN-TEEN.
